Pelikan Souverän M1000 Maki-e Five Lucky Bats
Pelikan Souverain M1000 Maki-e Five Lucky Bats
Created using advanced Taka-Maki-e and Togidashi-Maki-e technique, the Pelikan Souverän M1000 Maki-e Five Lucky Bats is being produced in just 132 numbered pieces worldwide
Each year, Pelikan releases a special limited edition Maki-e pen that is a unique fusion of German pen engineering with Japanese traditional art. This year's release, the Maki-e Five Lucky Bats, renders homage to a motif that is traditionally associated with wealth and good fortune in Japanese art - even the word for bat, komori, can be written in characters meaning "a lot of happiness."
The bats here have been realized in a variety of advanced Maki-e techniques, which in addition to the use of Taka-Maki-e and Togidashi-Maki-e also include the utilization of precious materials such as raden shell and kirigane gold flake. Five golden four-leaf clovers are also depicted, and the artist's signature and edition numbers are also realized in Maki-e.
Each pen ships in a special Paulownia softwood presentation box which adds to the pen's value and collectibility.
