Danitrio Tamenuri Dark Red Urushi on Hyotan Fountain Pen.

The curvaceous Hyotan is a full-size pen utilizing a convenient cartridge-converter system. Dark red Shu-dame Tame-nuri provides a lustrous surface for the curvaceous Danitrio Hyotan. Many Hyotan owners find that the undulating shape of this pen makes it the most comfortable in the hand of any writing instrument they have ever used.

This pen has been hand-finished by a skilled Maki-e artist using multiple layers of natural Urushi lacquer.
Each pen is unique - no two, even in the same color finish, will ever be exactly alike.

In Tame-Nuri technique, semi-transparent amber-colored urushi is painted over a base color. As the natural urushi matures, the outer layer becomes more transparent and the underlying color shows through more brightly.

This Pen is a brand new Pen never been inked or dipped but it does not come in it’s original box, it will come in the Hand made Leather case pictured with Pen. (The leather case is hand made and will last more than a life time, I have been told by the Artisan who made it that you can drive a car over this particular case and it is strong enough to with stand the weight) I will nit advise you to do so though.

As with most Danitrio pens, the artist has signed the pen in kanji script. The red mark towards the bottom of the barrel is a traditional craft signature used by skilled artisans.
