Whenever John Lennon was performing you felt you were witnessing something legendary. It was passion sweeping you away in a rush of exhilaration – an effect only great art can achieve. While the legend of John Lennon lives on in his verses, Montblanc, through its 100 years history, has achieved a legend in its own – the well know Montblanc writing instruments have established themselves as icons of the writing culture.
Montblanc’s identity is rooted in the creation of exquisitely unique writing instruments – and its passion goes beyond its origins, just as John Lennon’s did. As a brand dedicated to the preservation and development of culture, Montblanc introduces the John Lennon Special Edition – honouring the man, his music and his dreams by donating part of the proceeds, in the amount of EUR 20 for each fountain pen and EUR 10 for each ballpoint or rollerball, to carefully selected cultural projects supporting young artists around the world.
One of the most talented artists ever to write music history, John Lennon captured the world’s attention with his creative spirit. His fresh, unconventional sound prompted thunderous approval from audiences everywhere – one became the perfect vehicle for his resounding message of peace. Combining artistic forces with Yoko Ono, John Lennon used his celebrity to open up new vistas of hope and inspiration all over the world. Songs like “Give Peace a Chance” and “Imagine” embedded a kernel in the heart of society that continues to grow and mature through the generations, nurtured by others who follow in Lennon’s footsteps.
Like picking up an odd-style vinyl record. The gentle grooves chiselled into the black precious resin of the barrel mimic that very feel against the fingertips. Evoking the musical genre of the 50s and 60s, the edition features a clip inspired by a period guitar head and, in tribute to its namesake, a platinum-plated plaque engraved with Lennon’s signature self-portrait. A work of art in itself – from the Montblanc emblem crowning the cap, to the music staff delicately engraved on the cone, to the peace symbol embellishing the handmade, rhodium-plated 18 K gold nib – the edition, furthermore, underlines Montblanc’s philosophy of supporting cultural projects by helping a new generation of rising talents take up the legacy left behind.
