About Tom:

His life with pens started with the Pelikano in school

In 1985 he started working full time at his family business (Schacht&Westerich)
From 1989 to 1993 he became the CEO of the 6 stationary shops. Big part of their sales was pens. Modern pens.
Around this time, he discovered vintage pens, and their appeal to him had a life changing effect.
One of the first brands, he fell in love with was Omas…

He left the family business to live be self employed.
From 1993 till the present day I buys, sells and restores vintage and modern pens.
The mix of pen hunting, pen restoring, pen selling, researching about them and publishing stories about them became my profession.
For several years now, his focus is shifting more towards pen making.
In 2006 he revived the Berlin Pen Brand Goldfink, registering it in his and wife’s name..

CusTom pens or Goldfink pens are an inevitable evolution. After having remade every part of a vintage pen (not the nibs, not the feeds) it seems natural to make his own pens.

He makes pens in the traditional methods, no glueing together, Ebonite Feeds (No Plastic Feeds in his pens) The bands and trims on his pens are fitted in by hand rather than glued in, he has numerous filling system and does not do cartridge converter.

Tom understands how a good pen is made and you can see that come through in all the pen he makes.

This particular pen was handmade on the lathe.
