The ASC Burlwood fountain pen is made from one piece of "Burlwood" celluloid from the old stocks of Omas. We know the Ogiva, with the well-known cone shape, from the Omas collection. However, this Ogiva is just like the other ASC pens and therefore oversized. The material looks like wood up close and feels fantastic.
The fountain pen is equipped with a large no. 8 oversized "Magic Flex" 18 krt. gold nib. Small printing nuances make it possible to vary the thickness of the lines slightly, the ink guide is made of ebonite. The ASC is equipped with a pneumatic One-Touch filling system as used by Sheaffer and Chilton in the late 1920s. The extreme end of the container can be unscrewed, then the inner tube should be pulled out as far as possible. The container then fills completely with air through the small valve hole at the end of the barrel.cht.
Then the nib is dipped in the ink and the extracted part is pushed back, while covering the small valve hole at the end of the barrel with the finger, now the column of air is compressed which in turn pushes the rubber bag. When the finger is lifted after the blow, the compressed air can escape and the bag can bulge again and soak up the ink. The pen is thus filled with more than 2 ml of ink.
Straight from our atelier and crafted from a celluloid rod, Armando Simoni Club is proud to introduce the second in the Ogiva Series -- Burlwood.
The shape that defined an era -- the ogiva or bullet shape. Hold it in your hand, and you will know the difference. Bring it close to the light, and the semblance to wood is striking. A spectacle for the fine pen connoisseur.
As always, the signature Greek Key pattern appears on both the cap band and the barrel above the grip section.
Everything about this design enables you to vary the line width by changing the amount of pressure on the nib as you write. Be careful not to push too hard, as you can bend this flexible nib. The old-fashioned turning knob and piston is superseded by a large volume, compressor filling system.
